2002 SLAMDANCE SCREENPLAY WORKSHOP

By Film Threat Staff | June 13, 2002

This Saturday, June 15th from 10AM-5PM, the Slamdance Film Festival will host a Screenplay Workshop at the Wilshire Grand Hotel located at 930 Wilshire Blvd. in Los Angeles.
The three workshop sessions explore writing for low budget independent filmmaking, writing for directing, and identifying the biggest problems writers face with specs and the studios. The final session of the day is called “Inside the Process – Getting Your Script Into the Right Hands,” and it looks at different avenues of taking charge of your career and protecting your work.
Screenwriter Eric Wald is the event’s special guest — he’ll discuss writing Hollywood specs with an indie approach. Mr. Wald is the screenwriter of the upcoming Miramax release “View From the Top.” The workshop will have an interactive format, wherein students will analyze two scripts chosen by the workshop leaders that will be read beforehand by participants.
The Slamdance Film Festival Screenplay Workshop costs $100, and registration includes script coverage. For more information, pay a visit to the Slamdance site or call 323-466-1786.
