What Else is On?

It’s wrong. It’s offensive. It’s hilarious. It pushes the boundaries of decency. I love it. Writer/director Tyler Council’s comedy sketch anthology, What Else is On?, is the comedy I want on television or streaming. If, like me, you don’t care and just want to laugh, you’ll go all in with me.

Loosely akin to Monty Python’s Flying Circus, What Else is On? opens with a pile of televisions, and one by one, we see what’s on the boob tube. It starts “harmlessly” enough with a commercial for the Slaw Soaker XCS. It’s a coleslaw gun made for kids and adults who’ve grown tired of their Super Soakers. Weird, but it gets weirder.

“… a pile of televisions, and one by one, we see what’s on the boob tube.”

We then move on to a smart home garage door and a family-owned business that replaces outdated garage door openers with gas-powered models. You also get a diesel-fueled aquarium pump with every order. Then there’s Incestry.com. There’s so much more. You’ve got to see it to believe it, and then we head down a rabbit hole that makes you feel dirty when you hit rock bottom.

What Else is On? is a knee-slapping cavalcade of everything you shouldn’t laugh at, but you do. Yes, the production values are cheap, and no Oscar-winning actors will come near the project. But there’s a controlled silliness that Tyler Council brings to this episode that is downright admirable. I’ve seen too many shorts like this try to be wacky for wacky’s sake. Council at least brings some thought to his potty humor.

This is my level of humor, and trust me: it should be yours as well.

What Else Is On? is streaming on YouTube.
