In no particular order, here’s a brief rundown of most of the remaining segments: M.I.S.T.E.R. is about a men’s night out that turns hairy and deadly. Girls’ Night Out Of Body follows a slumber party that goes awry due to possessed candy. So Much To Do sees the soul of a man get trapped and then fight for control of a woman’s body while poking fun at spoiler culture. Then there is the conclusion, Horror Hypothesis, which ties directly in with the wraparound. Each story has some amusing gag or humorous lines, and all were entertaining and fun in their own right.
However, the stands were The Night He Came Back Again! Part IV and One Time In The Woods. One Time In The Woods is about some campers whose fun is interrupted by a man dissolving into a goo pile, and he is contagious! It sports some fantastic special effects, in the vein of Troma or early Peter Jackson, and some perfectly over-the-top acting. When another person begins melting, the first goo pile tries to divide their oozes cleanly. It is an odd yet hysterical joke.
“…perfectly hilarious, genuinely fun, and deserves to be watched right away.”
In The Night He Came Back Again! Part IV, the slasher killer, is trapped in a shed, and the heroes finally decide to end their torment. They try stabbing, electrocuting, and blowing the slasher’s head off with fireworks, among other should-be-deadly blows. Each time the villain returns to life, he murders another of the friends in a ridiculous fashion. Everything about this segment works- the editing, lighting, writing, and effects are all top-notch. I would love to see a whole movie like this, to be honest.
Scare Package is one of those rare anthology films where there is no bad segment to be found. While I had my personal favorites, they all good-naturedly rib the horror genre, while still delivering all that horror buffs love about it. It is perfectly hilarious, genuinely fun, and deserves to be watched right away.
