Big Nose

PALM SPRINGS INTERNATIONAL SHORTFEST 2026 REVIEW! Everyone seems to have something that they are physically self-conscious about. Filmmaker Sophia Conger uses a big schnoz to hilarious results in the aptly titled short film comedy Big Nose. The film follows high school swimmer Tori (Nanouli Shevardnadze), who starts out feeling good about herself until two mean girls tell her that she’s got a big nose.

Tori (Nanouli Shevardnadze) looks up from the pool with a nose tampon in Big Nose.

Tori (Nanouli Shevardnadze) has an awkward poolside moment in Big Nose.

“… two mean girls tell her that she’s got a big nose.”

Comedy ensues when Tori asks her family about the matter, and her father admits that she does, in fact, have a big nose. This leads to public cries in the middle of a restaurant about wanting a nose job. There’s also a very funny scene in a pool where Tori eyes a crush, but it doesn’t go quite as she or the audience expects.

It ends with some over-the-top absurdity, which I can appreciate as one who grew up when outrageous Farrelly brothers’ comedies ruled the multiplexes. Conger is helping to bring comedy back, one snout at a time.

Big Nose screened at the 2026 Palm Springs International Shortfest.
