AWESOME OUIJA BOARD

By Scott Knopf | August 13, 2011

Making Awesome Ouija Board might have been a fun way to spend an afternoon.  Watching Awesome Ouija Board, on the other hand, is a pretty painful way to spend six minutes.

Shot in black-and-white and without sound, this short weakly attempts to style itself after the silent film era and it comes off as incredibly lazy.  The iMovie silent movie presets and poorly recorded “old time” music might be forgivable but when the titular Ouija board is constructed out of a white piece of paper and some ink… let’s just say that the word “awesome” hardly applies.  And while it’s fun to play dress-up and make a quick little video for you and your buddies, sharing it with the world as an “independent film” is something different.  Perhaps this was a school project or just a way to pass time but this is not a film that deserves an IMDB page.

Hello and thanks for the review. Just to clear things up I would like to comment that this project was shot on High Definition video and edited with Adobe Premier without the use of any presets. The “look” of the video was achieved using lighting techniques and color correction.

    Thanks,
    Tonjia
