A Swingers Weekend

This movie was like watching Cinemax porn without the follow-through. Come to think of it, I’ve actually seen Cinemax porn that made a lot more sense.

Starting with Geoffrey. Who, on the brink of divorce with Fiona, pushes for them to partake in the “sexual debauchery” of swinging to save them from divorce. Except, he doesn’t actually have sex with anybody. Which makes their reason for even being their pointless. And Dan, who, after what looks like an uncomfortable few of minutes of “yoga sex” with Skai, is now magically in love with her, and wants to leave his wife and tank his friendship with Teejay.

“…might have worked as an episode on a TV sitcom…”

And through all of this, I don’t think I cracked one smile, much less laughed. Which, for a comedy, I would assume is the desired effect. The plot (and use that loosely) is overwhelmingly predictable. And the acting from half of the cast is almost “Tommy Wiseau-Level” bad! At best A Swingers Weekend might have worked as an episode on a TV sitcom… by better writers. But sitting through 90 minutes of this was teeth-grindingly painful.

A Swingers Weekend (2017) Directed by John E. Cohen. Written by John E. Cohan and Nicola Sammeroff. Starring Randal Edwards, Mia Kirshner, Erin Karpluk, Michael Xavier, Erin Agostino, and Jonas Chernick.
