scriptART Celebrates the Art of Screenwriting

Some screenplays could be considered literary works of art, but artist Timothy Mendonça has taken things one step further and used excerpts from screenplays and turned them into a piece of art itself. Mendonça is an artist, filmmaker and founder of scriptART, Inc. a multimedia collection that takes the written words from scripts and transforms them into beautiful and wholly original. Some of these works have transformed screenplays for Dune and The Dark Knight.

“The goal is to celebrate the narrative through different mediums of art to elevate a feeling, character, tone or moment in the story…”

“From the moment you start in this industry you realize that the script is the blueprint to the entire production. I wondered what could be accomplished by transforming that blueprint into other forms of art. The goal is to celebrate the narrative through different mediums of art to elevate a feeling, character, tone or moment in the story. I’ll be exploring concepts of technology, humanity, sexuality, race, fashion along with so much more. It is exciting to blend the lines between the film and art industries. It’s time to introduce the world to the scriptART Collection.”, Mendonca said.

The scriptART project advances artistic innovation to develop NFTs, Fine Art and Visual Art Experiences that are inspired by screenplays. The stunning collection, inspired by impactful screenplays across film and television, includes works based off of the scripts of Emmy award-winning series The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and Ted Lasso, Oscar-winning films The Shape of Water, Get Out, Crash, as well as artwork based on Jordan Peele’s US, and fan favorite film The Devil Wears Prada. The collection reimagines written word screenplays as paintings and sculptures.

Mendonça is currently a key member of the production team behind The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. Additional production credits include Spider-Man: No Way Home, Sneaky Pete, First Reformed, Split, Moonrise Kingdom and the upcoming films Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile, The Son and Dr. Strange 2. Mendonça has also written screenplays, which have received recognition at various screenwriting competitions, including the Austin Film Festival.

Mendonça’s work can be seen on the scriptART web site and you can follow his work via the scriptART collection instagram. Bravo!
