An innocent man who served 20 years in prison, Chris (Jay Duplass) is released because of the tireless work of Carol (Edie Falco), his high-school teacher. As he struggles with the challenges of re-joining society as an ex-con, Chris ends up confessing his romantic love for Carol. Meanwhile, Carol’s daughter Hildy (Kaitlyn Dever) befriends him, finding a kindred spirit in this anxious man who must absorb the changes in the world and himself after 20 years away.
The Orchard will release OUTSIDE IN theatrically on Friday, March 30th, and on all digital platforms on Tuesday, April 3rd. The film premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival and will screen at South by Southwest next month.
