Directing The Jumanji 3

For now, Jumanji 3 is scheduled to be released on December 13, 2019. The installment is exactly one week before Star Wars: Episode IX. In addition, it will be a busy week, just like the showdown from 2017, when Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle was on the big screen right after Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

The second Jumanji film was such a hit that Sony brought back the major players for Jumanji: Next Level. Sony asked Scott Rosenberg and Jeff Pinkner to write a sequel, with Jake Kasdan helping to direct and shape the movie. Matt Tolbach will be the film producer and he will work alongside Seven Bucks Production team of Dwayne Johnson, Dany Garcia and Hiram Garcia.

Jumanji 3 started its production in January 21, 2018 and finished filming around April 26, 2019. Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle was filmed in Hawaii and Georgia, however during filming for Jumanji 3 it was supposed to be a storyline change. However, based on the newest trailer, it won’t be much difference from the Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle.

For now, we know that Jumanji 3 will take place in Atlanta, New Mexico, Calgary and Hawaii. Usually, more information about the third installment of Jumanji franchise comes from Dwayne Johnson’s Instagram. Because he is a producer, he loves to share the news with his fans.

Jumanji’s Plot

The Jumanji 3 team was pretty secretive so far. Back in June, 2018, Dwayne Johnson shared some info from the development team, teasing his fans with the movie’s plot. Dwayne was saying that he is sorry for the spoiler but Kevin Hart dies in the first 15 seconds of the movie.

Dwayne loves to mess with Kevin Hart. So from this details, fans know that the main actors are all meant to return back in their avatar roles. If Kevin Hart’s avatar truly dies, he will come back at least two more times. The ending of Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle was that the characters destroyed the game in the end and they became friends. The film also had some alternative endings that were discarded. It is possible that the filmmakers will go back into an alternative end at some point. Some actors, like Jack Black who wants to head into space for an origin story. Jack wants to know where the game comes from, who invented it and such. He wants to figure out if it is an alien technology.

In addition, Karen Gillan said that she would like to see a really old man choosing her avatar, because she wants to go from an introverted character to channel the mannerisms of an old person.

Jumanji Characters

The returning characters are: Dwayne Johnson, Jack Black, Kevin Hart, Karen Gillan and Kevin Jonas. They used to play respective avatars Smolder Bravestone, Sheldon Oberon, Franklin Finbar, Ruby Roundhouse and Jefferson McDonough.

In August 2018, director Jake Kasdan was asked if the same characters would play a new game of Jumanji. He responded that the characters were busy figuring it all out. He said that it might be a continuation of Jumanji as video game, rather then the board game from the first film.

The actors that will join the cast in Jumanji 3 will be Ocean’s 8 and Crazy Rich Asians star Awkwafina, who said that she will play a key-role and significant character in this movie. Shortly after her word got out, it was revealed that Danny DeVito will also join Jumanji 3.

Of course, Dwayne Johnson teased its fans with the new additions but he didn’t reveal anything about their characters. He added that he is excited to have Danny joining their casts on another wild and fun adventure.

Jumanji Franchise

Initially, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle was supposed to be a reboot for Jumanji franchise. Instead, it was a sequel to the 1995 Jumanji, starring Robin Williams. The sequel didn’t have many references to the original, but it was clear that it is in the same universe. Director Jake Kasdan said that he plans to connect Jumanji 3 with both previous films, especially Welcome to the Jungle.

In addition, the Jumanji franchise, was so well received that even a video game was created after it. After 20 years since the first Jumanji film, NetEnd and Sony Entertainment made an agreement to create the Jumanji video slots, where players are welcomed by a legendary board game found in a jungle. The slot game can be played on any online casino, like Admiral Casino. This is not the typical slot game that people are familiar with it. The game has 5 reels that make a geometric form with 3 to 5 rows , all framed into a Jumanji board game. Net Entertainment have mentioned that the game is a fun slot adventure, with many features, clever gameplay mechanics that allow players to experience the jungle in a new way, every round.

The game’s inspiration is the first film installment of the franchise, where Robin William’s character enters the world of Jumanji, a board game, where he is greeted by animals from the jungle. The video slot’s main screen is able to conjure the mythical jungle moment. The game also has a feature of monkey mayhem, followed by another game mechanic a stampede of rhinos who will cross the screen and shake up the ground.

Last Words

Overall, the slots games are really fun to play and could be something that fans of the franchise could try out while waiting for the next movie installment in the Jumanji franchise, or until Dwayne Johnson gives more information about the movie.

The third Jumanji movie is moving forward with Dwayne Johnson who clearly wants the fans to start getting excited about the film. He also adds up that he is still willing to mess with Kevin Hart in the name of having fun. With the death of Kevin in the first 15 second of the movie, the scene will lead to an applause from the audience and the returning cast members.

Some actors work very well together, and there are a few examples, like Brad Pitt with George Clooney in Ocean’s Eleven or Nick Frost and Simon Pegg in Edgar Wright’s Cornetto trilogy. Jumanji adds up another wonderful duo, Kevin Hart and The Rock, a duo that delivered great action and greater comedy in their collaborations.
