It’s Time We Had a Black Panther Video Game

By Film Threat Staff | April 10, 2018

While Marvel’s latest standalone movie was widely tipped to crack the box office and wow audiences around the world, few could have predicted that it would evolve into the earth-shattering hit we see before us today. Despite only being released in February, Black Panther managed to crack the top 10 highest grossing movies of all time and with a good number of weeks left in left in global theaters, the movie has its sights firmly set on 9th place in the list, which is currently occupied by last years latest installment in the Star Wars franchise, The Last Jedi. When looking at the top 10 all time grossing list, the movies all tend to have more than one thing in common – not only are they box office powerhouses, they have also hugely benefited from a large amount of success in the pop culture realm. It’s time we took one last free spins!

The Impact of Pop Culture

In particular, every single movie on the top 10 list has at one video game based upon it – from the rather sketchy Fast and Furious 7 Forza 2 extension pack to the highly lucrative and successful multi-platformer based Star Wars games, developers have, in the main, tried to replicate the success of the movies on the smaller, digital screens. Franchises such as The Avengers and Jurassic World even have numerous slot games based upon them, with a list of the best online casinos in Canada to play such themed slots available on various casino review sites. For those wanting to indulge in their favorite superhero or dinosaur-themed slot games, there are various free spins and sign-up bonuses to ensure you get a decent shot at those progressive jackpots or at least avoid being eaten by a T-Rex for a turn or two.

For those of you who missed my last post, I talked about how it was recently discovered that Tyrannosaurus is no longer a valid genus because, as was the case with Brontosaurus, scientists found out that bones belonging to this dinosaur had already been named Manospondylus gigas. According to the rules of the International Code of Zoological Nomenclature (ICZN), the system that governs the scientific naming of animals, Manospondylus gigas should therefore have priority over Tyrannosaurus rex, because it was named first. Well…Happy April Fools!!! Thankfully, T. rex is not losing its more popular name. The irony however, is that my April Fools prank almost happened in real life! Paleontologist Edward Drinker Cope really did find the first "T. rex" fossils and named them M. gigas, so Tyrannosaurus' name should have been replaced. Why didn't this happen? Fortunately, no one liked the idea of changing the name of the most famous dinosaur of all time to Manospondylus gigas, so in the year 2000, the ICZN alterred the rules regarding the naming of a new species, stating that "the prevailing usage must be maintained" when "the senior synonym or homonym has not been used as a valid name after 1899" and "the junior synonym or homonym has been used for a particular taxon, as its presumed valid name, in at least 25 works, published by at least 10 authors in the immediately preceding 50 years …" Tyrannosaurus rex fits all of these qualifications. Relax folks, the good old tyrant lizard king isn't going anywhere! PS. Sorry for being largely MIA over the past week or so. I just finished moving, so most of my time was spent packing boxes, loading the moving truck, driving to the new location and finally unloading the truck. Now that I'm moved into my new home, content should continue as usual! #aprilfools #tyrannosaurus #tyrannosaurusrex #dinosaurs #jurassicworld #jurassicworldfallenkingdom #paleontology #biblicalpaleontology #creationscience #trex #fossils #manospondylus

Video Games Based On Best Selling Movies Are a Safe Bet For Success

From an outside perspective, developing a Black Panther video game would make a lot of sense. First of all, the movie is awesome and popular – this in itself would likely make the game a success straight off the bat. Second of all, there are various plots and sub-plots scattered throughout the movie (perfect for different missions), the characters are deep and complex (hardcore gaming aficionados will know how important character development and depth is) and the world of Wakanda would look absolutely spectacular on a next-gen console if given the right treatment. Perhaps most importantly of all, a Black Panther video game would also fulfill a demand for the kind of diversity that the video game industry is really in need of right now.

#BlackPanther is the #1 movie in the world. How many times have you seen it?

Common Sense Will Surely Prevail In The End

Despite the fact that Marvel have yet to officially confirm a Black Panther 2, a return to Wakanda is most definitely on the cards and that may well be when we finally see King T’Challa on the cover of a video game. Nevertheless, that’s not to say that Black Panther won’t follow in the footsteps of Jurassic World and The Avengers in terms of online slots. With new games based on popular culture and the latest hit TV shows and movies being released daily, there are a number of ways to stay updated with the latest slot releases.

It would take a brave punter to back against a Black Panther slot game featuring Erik Killmonger and friends who will no doubt be trying to scupper your chances of landing the jackpot. One thing’s for sure – there’s only one way to find out. Even online casino game providers are inspired by best movies and they are creating some awesome games to attract players, you can try some of these games for free HERE.
