Some of the greatest movies on Amazon Prime Video don’t have sequels. For most movies, that might be a good thing, but for those that ended with a massive cliffhanger, a sequel is a must for fans to have a closure. Meanwhile, there are many movies out there that got multiple sequels, such as Twilight. All of them can be seen on 123 movies.
So, here is a list of my top recommended movies on Amazon Prime that fans are still hoping for a sequel to this day.
Let’s just hope many of the movies that we’re going to list, someday get a green signal for a sequel.
Salt (2010)
Action, Thriller
Synopsis: Salt revolved around Evelyn Salt, a CIA agent accused of planning the assassination of the Russian President. Concerned about the safety of her husband, Salt goes on a run and her actions begin to raise doubts among the people who still trust her. At the end of the story, we see her jump into the river and escape into the forest. However, we deserve more of this badass spy story.
Starring: Angelina Jolie, Liev Schreiber, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Daniel Olbrychski, Corey Stoll, Hunt Block.
Inception (2010)
Action, Sci-Fi, Adventure
Synopsis: We all are well familiar with how Christopher Nolan does not create sequels outside his Batman movies, but we hope to see the return of Inception. There have been talks on developing an Inception video game, but nothing new on the sequel. The movies offered amazing visuals without the 3D technology that kept viewers guessing and engaged till the last scene.
Starring: Leonardo DiCaprio, Joseph Gordon-Lewitt, Elliot Page, Ken Watanabe, Tom Hardy, Cillian Murphy, Dileep Rao, Marion Cotillard.
The Man From U.N.C.L.E. (2015)
Action, Adventure, Comedy
Synopsis: A fun spy movie following the story of a CIA agent, KGB agent and a British agent. The trio works together in a joint mission to stop a criminal organization from using a nuclear bomb. We absolutely loved the fun chemistry between Henry Cavil and Armie Hammer. We need a sequel to see what happens on the mission that they were given at the end of the movie and what happens between Gaby and Illya.
Starring: Henry Cavill, Armie Hammer, Alicia Vikander, Elizabeth Debicki, Luca Calvani, Hugh Grant, Jarred Harris,
Blade Runner 2049 (2017)
Action, Drama, Thriller
Synopsis: Blade Runner 2049 has the best cinematography and performance by Ryan Gosling and Harrison Ford. It tells a story of a new LAPD Blade Runner officer ‘K’ who is on a quest to find a former Blade Runner who has been missing for thirty years, as he unearths a secret that has the potential to bring society into chaos. We need answers to what Rick Deckard (the former Blade Runner) is going to do next, and is Joi really dead!
Starring: Harrison Ford, Ryan Gosling, Ana de Armas, Dave Bautista, Robin Wright, Mark Arnold, Wood Harris.
Me Before You (2016)
Romance, Drama
Synopsis: Me Before You is a romantic movie based on a book series with three parts. However, fans were devastated to see that there has been only a single movie and no talk of doing the whole series. It’s a story about a girl from a small town (Emilia Clarke) forming a bond with a paralyzed man that she is taking care of.
Starring: Emilia Clarke, Sam Claflin, Charles Dance, Janet McTeer, Vanessa Kirby.
World War Z (2013)
Action, Horror, Adventure
Synopsis: Who doesn’t love an apocalyptic Zombie movie. World War Z featuring Brad Pitt is a perfect thriller zombie movie for binge-watching on Amazon Prime. The world is suddenly plagued by a mysterious infection that turns humans into mindless zombies. Gary (Brad Pitt) must find the cause of the disease before human civilization falls.
It’s one of those movies that don’t have a satisfying ending. We can see that they have found a short-term solution to keep the non-infected people safe, but in the end, Brad Pit says, “We’re all still screwed.” So, fans are left waiting; what happens next?
Starring: Brad Pitt, Mireille Enos, Daniella Kertesz, James Badge Dale, Ludi Boeken, Mathew Fox, David Morse.
Eragon (2006)
Action, Adventure, Fantasy
Synopsis: Eragon did amazingly well at the box office worldwide, earning $250 million. The fantasy franchise focusing on dragons offered a perfect fantasy movie with Eragon, a farm boy who finds a dragon egg. When the dragon Sapira is born, Eragon learns that he is a dragon rider who is destined to fight against the evil sorcerer Durza. The movie did not receive the best criticism. However, it was a hit among the fans owing to its actions and special effects.
Like most movies on this list, it ended on a huge cliffhanger that begs for a sequel. With popular shows like Game of Thrones and The Hobbit, it’s time Fox looks at bringing back the age of dragons.
Starring: Ed Speeler, Sienna Guillory, Jeremy Irons, John Malkovich, Garett Hedlund, Robert Carlyle, Christopher Egan, Rachel Weisz.
