Casino films have been a staple in the movie industry for decades, providing audiences with thrilling stories set in the glitzy and glamorous world of casinos. As you would expect, there have been a plethora of incredible casino films that have been released over the past couple of years, with some even managing to garner devout fans and cult followings.

In this article, we are going to be taking a look at two of the most popular casino films ever made, as well as briefly touching upon the plot and premise of each to see if either of them are able to capture your interest.

Casino

“Casino,” directed by Martin Scorsese and released in 1995, tells the story of Sam “Ace” Rothstein (played by Robert De Niro), a Jewish-American gambling prodigy who is sent to Las Vegas to run the Tangiers Casino for the mafia. Casino was a commercial and critical success, earning several Academy Award nominations and solidifying Scorsese’s reputation as one of the greatest directors of all time.

This film is a bonafide classic, and any Casino review you come across is going to be full of praise regarding the complex narrative that Scorsese manages to portray.

Despite its age, Casino continues to be a fan favourite among both gamblers and non-gamblers alike. You can even find the odd game pop-up based around this film on sites like Casino777 and other establishments that are willing to pay homage to this classic.

This one is a must-see if you haven’t had the luxury of watching it before. We can almost guarantee that you are going to have an incredible evening if you give Casino a chance.

Rounders

Next up, we have “Rounders”. The film stars Matt Damon as Mike McDermott, a law student and talented poker player who gets caught up in the underground world of high-stakes poker in New York City. Mike’s friend, Worm (played by Edward Norton), is a reformed gambler who gets released from prison and drags Mike back into the world of gambling.

Just as is the case with Casino, most Rounders reviews you come across are going to be overwhelmingly positive.  Rounders is considered a cult classic among poker enthusiasts and critics alike, and there are very few films out there that have managed to amass as much as a following as Rounders.

Both Casino and Rounders offer a glimpse into the world of gambling, showing the highs and lows of the casino lifestyle. They also showcase the talents of some of the most renowned actors and directors in the industry. If you are a fan of casino films, these two movies are must-watch.

While there are certainly a plethora of other casino movies that could have made it onto this list, the two we have mentioned are the most notable. Casino and Rounders are casino-film classics, and in all likelihood, they are going to be staples in every casino fan’s movie selection for generations.
