I think people will want to see “Tree of Life” because it IS a challenging piece of true film art. Yeah the Hangover 2 crowd wont want to see it, but people who love film, who love the possibility of what film can achieve when it moves beyond mere entertainment form should and will want to see it whether they end up loving it or not. Some friends of mine who even walked out of it not liking it have talked to me days later saying, “I can’t get it out of my head, I think there really is something to it”
I don’t think it is for everyone, but I’ve told my friends that if they would be inclined to go tot he Museum of Modern Art on a Sunday afternoon as easily as they might choose going to see a film ,then they should see “Tree of Life”. If Transformers is great cinema to you, then you should probably stay home.
