“Football” is tight visually and narratively, with sweeping innovative style and lots of humor. Telling the story of a London tyke wanting to be nothing but a football player (I call it football out of respect to the boys across the water, but for the American layman, I’m referring to soccer) shows the world from a child’s perspective with deft camerawork. The performances are all good (Helena Bonham Carter, as the child’s mum, seems an East End reprisal of her role from “Fight Club”) and the very-talented director Gaby Dellal tells the story with all visuals; the dialogue kept to a minimum. This woman needs a feature.
