11th ANNUAL CINEVEGAS FILM FESTIVAL FEATURES UNIQUE LIVE PERFORMANCES AND OUTDOOR SCREENINGS

In addition to the world premieres of indie films, the 2009 CineVegas Film Festival is featuring creative live performances and rare retro screenings in spectacular outdoor venues.

On Thursday, June 11, The Lounge at the Palms will host two live performances that every film lover will enjoy. At 10pm, animator/musician Brent Green and Alan Scalpone of The Bitter Tears will present Watts and Volts From Across the Field, a collection of stylish films made by Green accompanied by live music and narration by Green and Scalpone. Green is a self-taught animated filmmaker who lives and works in Cressona, PA. His unique films have screened across the country, including at the Sundance Film Festival, BAM, the Hammer Museum and the Getty Museum in Los Angeles.

Immediately following, at 12 midnight, will be FOUND Magazine’s Denim and Diamond’s Tour 2009, celebrating FOUND’s new book, Requiem for a Paper Bag. The event is part of Davy Rothbart’s 55-city tour to share his latest finds and newest treasures. One of this year’s Jackpot Premieres, Easier with Practice, was based on an article Davy wrote for GQ. Tickets to each event are $10 per person and $5 for CineVegas pass holders.

The LA-based indie band Happy Hollows will perform at the official evening party on Friday, June 12 at the Palms Pool. The band was featured in Etienne!, one of this year’s Jackpot Premieres films. The party will be held from 9-11:30pm, and guests will have access to Rain Nightclub immediately after. This event is only open to CineVegas pass and ticket package holders – passes are still available!

The previously announced outdoor screening of Yellow Submarine will take place at Mandalay Bay Beach on Saturday, June 13, with a party following at Moorea Beach Club at Mandalay Bay for CineVegas pass holders. Tickets are $10 each.

This year’s Vanguard Director Award honorees – George and Mike Kuchar – will participate in a live conversation before a screening of their new short films on Sunday, June 14 at 9pm. Tickets to the conversation and films are $10 each.

On Monday, June 15, CineVegas will re-create an outdoor drive-in on Fremont Street and 3rd Street in the heart of downtown Las Vegas, with a special screening of the cult classic Attack of the 50 Foot Woman at 9pm. Tickets are $10 each and include entry into the after party at Sidebar.

Festival passes, ticket packages and individual tickets are available for purchase online at www.cinevegas.com, by calling 888-8VEGAS8 or by visiting the CineVegas Box Office at the Palms from 12pm – 6pm from June 1 – June 9, and 9:30am – 11pm from June 10 – 15. Local, senior, student and military discounted packages are also available.

New to CineVegas this year is the $40 Day Pass, which can be purchased for any day from Thursday, June 11 – Sunday, June 14, and includes three films, Happy Hour in CVHQ at the Palms (except for Thursday) and the official evening party.
