Where Have All the Big Breasted Women Gone?

By Film Threat Staff | March 28, 2006

I recently watched a pair of new DVD releases featuring glamour gals of yesteryear: Jayne Mansfield in “Promises! Promises!” and Mamie Van Doren in “Three Nuts in Search of a Bolt.” And you know something — they had the best breasts in movie. But, of course, Jane Russell was the Queen of Tits and Raquel Welch is still my favorite wet dream subject. Which leads me to ask: where have all the big-breasted women gone? At least on the big screen? Who are the reigning mammary mamas in movies? Am I stuck in the past, or have the ladies with big boobies disappeared from the contemporary cinema?

Do you know what are you saying? You don’t have any kind of Shame. I really don’t like nudity and vulgarity in the films.

  2. Buck.Saxon says:

Carefully observe the winners, don’t always pay attention to the losers

  3. The Hamburglar says:

While men are attracted to the thin type of women that represent youth, many men are attracted to curvy women with boobs and a butt because they represent fertility. Men subconsciously seek out a woman that can have his kids. I say gimme a curvaceous woman any day, but I am also drawn to petite women too.

  4. The Baron says:

My fave curvaceous hottie is Monica Belucci.

On the other side of the coin, the whole ultra-thin thing also has to do with the desire for youth. Women who look more like girls. Very young girls. From the POV of how human males are hard-wired, youth represents health, vitality, and fertility. These are desirable qualities to the aeons old part of our make up. Some men have moved past that, others haven’t.

    Me… I’m a sucker for a pretty face.

Ah, Monica… You could have had me, but you chose Vincent Cassell. What were you thinking?

  5. Gigi says:

May big boobs come back. Im totally sick of everyone showing their freaking stomach. And aren’t you men sick of women having a***s like ten year old boys? Bring back the curves, bring back appreciation for real beauty. Not what everyone THINKS is beautiful at any given moment in time.

Keira Knightley didn’t need Scarlett Johansson to make her look like a concentration camp victim. She does that perfectly on her own.

Some guys I know actually like the little boy look she has going on, and these dudes aren’t Catholic priests either.

  7. Tracey Graham says:

I think Scarlett Johansson is doing pretty well in the curves department. Don’t you think? She made Keira Knightley look like a concentration camp victim on the cover of Vanity Fair. I’m a pretty skinny gal myself who’s working on getting some curves. I miss them too. My dad had this picture of Raquel Welch hanging in our playroom when I was a kid (no, I have no idea why he’d put it there) and she was coming out of the water in that bikini with seaweed all over her. Lordy. That’s a woman. Folks don’t seem to know what they’re missing!I feel your pain guys 😉

  8. Michael Neel says:

True Rory, that’s why I only use mayonaise-based sandwiches.

  9. Rory L. Aronsky says:

But mustard is a BITCH to wipe off the screen. 😉

  10. Michael Neel says:

I’m with you, Phil. When I see an uber-thin girl in a film (even Natalie Portman, usually very cute, looked too thin in V for Vendetta) I want to throw a sandwich at the screen.

  11. Phil Hall says:

Phooey on thin. Give me the bounce in the bra any day!

  12. Furious D says:

My theory involves Hollywood’s obsession with people being reed thin.
