WELCOME TO THE DIGITAL UNDERGROUND

By Film Threat Staff | August 17, 2000

SF IndieFest will host a program called The Digital Underground from August 25-27– a shiny new three day program focusing on video produced features, shorts and documentaries. All selected pieces will be presented on digital projectors courtesy of local audio/visual rental house AVTS, with many of the filmmakers in attendance. Digital Underground screenings will take place at the CellSpace Theater, 2050 Bryant at 18th and at ATA, 992 Valencia at 21st in, of course, San Francisco.
The Digital Underground program intends to boost those films that hover somewhere beneath the radar of the movie industry. With new video technology at the disposal of many aspiring filmmakers, interesting, non-commercial stories can now be told for a fraction of the cost of shooting on film.
Patrick Hasson’s “Waiting” will open the show on Friday, August 25th. The comedy, which exposes the lurid dark secrets of Philly’s restaurant industry, will be screened with the filmmaker in attendance. Shorts programs will also run on several days, as well as FREE panels on no-to-low budget filmmaking.
