WAITING ROOM

Waiting Room is one of the most original short films I have ever seen in a combination of David Lynch meets John Waters. Set in a well perceived type of purgatory which is likened to that of a doctor’s office meets a bakery que where the pre-judged sit patiently in a waiting room waiting for their numbers to be called out momentarily. An impatient man decides to selfishly jump the que by grabbing somebody else’s discarded number. He lays claim to the number and follows the Employee (Sarah Knight) through to room 6 where he is about to endure someone else’s painful destiny.

An extremely clever film, shot in beautiful black and white with only the red items appearing in isolated color. The performances were believably wacky and the charming Sarah Knight, who plays The Employee of this purgatory style location, perfectly performs her role to a tea. I expect big things in the future for the very talented director Sophia Sovriss. Mysteriously flamboyant is the perfect term to encapsulate this short.
