VISIONFEST 03 ANNOUNCES VENUE

By Film Threat Staff | June 13, 2003

VISIONFEST 03: The Third Guerrilla Film & Video Festival has joined forces with the Intrepid Sea-Air-Space Museum, announcing that its official 2003 festival screenings venue will be the Intrepid’s own Allison & Howard Lutnick Theater, June 25-29. This alliance, which introduces the Intrepid as this year’s “presenting” sponsor, marks the first time ever that a film festival is held on the legendary aircraft carrier now turned to a National Historic Landmark.
Weather permitting, the Intrepid’s nine hundred foot long Flight Deck becomes the largest floating outdoor party space in Manhattan, and this year, it is scheduled to serve as one of the primary “party” locations for VISIONFEST 03. “We’re planning a colossal weekend bash featuring a live band and some popular DJs,” stated festival co-director, Bruno Derlin, “but we’re going to hold off announcing the date and ‘players’ until all preparations and schedules are confirmed.” Twenty five hundred plus guests can enjoy breathtaking views of the New York skyline amid the unique collection of vintage and modern aircraft including the ultra-sleek A-12 Blackbird, the world’s fastest spy plane. “We’re all very ecstatic,” added VISIONFEST producer, Jennifer Norton, “although I’m not yet allowed to say the name of the group that is playing at our Flight Deck party, I can say that they were featured in last year’s Ozzfest line-up, in Prague, Czech Republic.”
