VICTIM’S BENEFIT DAY AT MOVIE THEATERS TUESDAY

By Film Threat Staff | September 24, 2001

On the eve of the September 25 “Victims’ Benefit Day at the Movies,” the National Association of Theatre Owners announced overwhelming support for the benefit from motion picture distribution and exhibition companies. The industry encourages all Americans to turn out to the movies on Tuesday, September 25.
As announced previously, 100% of September 25 ticket and concession sales at participating movie theatres nationwide will be donated to the September 11th Fund of the United Way, and the American Red Cross to benefit the needs resulting from this tragedy. Fifty percent of the proceeds will be donated to the American Red Cross and 50 percent will be donated to the United Way.
Over 250 exhibition companies, representing nearly 28,000 screens, will participate in the benefit. These theatre companies extend their heartfelt thanks to the many motion picture distribution companies that have generously agreed to add their share of Tuesday’s movie ticket revenue to exhibition’s, and donate it to America’s disaster relief efforts. Participating exhibition and distribution companies are listed on NATO’s web site.
