TIE TV SPOT

By Rory L. Aronsky | July 12, 2003

Remember those Mitsubishi Eclipse commercials with those people getting their groove on in the car? Don’t worry if you don’t have a picture of it in your mind. You’re probably better off.
However, if you don’t remember those commercials, they’ll come right back to mind in “TIE TV Spot”. Here, we’ve got a TIE Fighter with Darth Vader piloting and Boba Fett moving and shaking it to the music. The only other time I can remember the Eclipse commercial being parodied was on “Chappelle’s Show” on Comedy Central where a chick was doing her thing in Dave’s car and he wasn’t very happy at having to deal with her s**t, so he chucked her out and picked up a woman who could move to the music in a style that he liked. Darth doesn’t chuck Boba out in this one, but the sight of Boba movin’ and groovin’ is amusing. The music on the other hand, is completely bothersome. A new soundtrack wouldn’t hurt this one, but could help it. Hell, you could take any number of tracks that play on Party 93.1, a dance music station here in South Florida, and it would greatly improve this commercial spot.
