By Film Threat Staff | November 21, 2002

This December, Peter Jackson’s second film in “The Lord of the Rings” trilogy, “The Two Towers,” will have several different premieres all over the world throughout December.
The film will have its North American premiere in New York on December 5th and in Toronto, Canada, on December 6th, followed by the European premiere in Paris on December 10th and the UK premiere on December 11th in London. On December 15th, the film will premiere in Los Angeles and in Copenhagen, with the Queen of Denmark attending. A special screening in Seattle follows on December 16th. The film premieres in New Zealand, where “The Lord of the Rings” trilogy was shot, in Wellington on December 18th, and in Sydney, Australia on December 19th.
“The opening of this film has truly become a global event,” Rolf Mittweg, president and chief operating officer of New Line Cinema, said, “because ‘The Lord of the Rings’ has been embraced by so many different cultures. The first film has shipped 35 million DVD and VHS units worldwide, a testament to the popularity of the trilogy and how widely the fan base has broadened. Multiple premieres of ‘The Two Towers’ around the globe are a fun and appropriate way to celebrate both the universality of Tolkien’s themes and the excitement and anticipation that is building among moviegoers.”
“The Two Towers” will open to North American theaters on December 18th, so we all have plenty of time to go through all of the content on the colossal four disc release of “The Fellowship of the Ring” before seeing the new film.
