THE DAHLONEGA INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL MOVES TO ROME

By Film Threat Staff | February 16, 2004

The Dahlonega International Film Festival (The DIFF) is relocating to Rome, Georgia and becoming “The RIFF.” The Fourth Annual Festival will take place September 9 – 12. The success of the festival has created a need to expand in its abilities to screen films and attract film attendees. Rome, Georgia with its tremendous infrastructure, and charming downtown, is strategically located between Atlanta, Chattanooga and Birmingham.
“Rome has all the elements we loved about Dahlonega,” claims Barry Norman; Founder and Executive Director. “Rome has the DeSoto Theater- a classic, Art Deco Theater built in 1929 and will be a wonderful place to showcase independent films. We are also excited about MB’s at Village Theaters where beer, wine and snacks are sold inside the theater. Filmmakers from all over the world will love Rome, as will the film aficionado. I have no doubt that The RIFF will thrive.”
In addition to the DeSoto, The RIFF will screen at MB’s at Village Theaters where one screen has been transformed into a bar/picture house. And we all know how much fun those types of places are, don’t we kids?
More on this festival as September grows nearer.
