Film: “The Zapruder Film of the Kennedy Assassination” (1963 8mm amateur film that captured the fatal shooting of President John F. Kennedy in Dallas on November 22, 1963).

Last seen: looping its merry way across the Internet, the latest in nearly 40 years of bootleg versions.

American home video release: included in a 1998 45-minute documentary sold to the home video market; a bootleg video release in 1991 was halted by court order.

Bootleg history: one of the most blatant cases of copyright violation of all time, with high quantities of bootleg copies circulating for decades and even being broadcast on national television.
