THE 19TH ISRAEL FILM FESTIVAL IS COMING

By Film Threat Staff | May 16, 2003

Israel Film Festival Founder/Director Meir Fenigstein and Director of Programming Paul Fagen have announced the full lineup of feature films, documentaries and television movies that will be shown during the Festival, which runs May 28-June 8 in Los Angeles. Known for showcasing the best of Israeli cinema, the Festival continues to build on that reputation with “Reflections of Women,” a series of Israeli work focusing on female filmmakers and issues, as well as intriguing documentaries, the best short films from Israel’s film schools and films that exhibit the cultural, religious and political diversity of Israel including Arab/Israeli relations and the effects of terrorism and war. Also included will be panels where producers, directors and screenwriters brought from Israel will meet audiences and discuss their work and current Israeli issues.
“We consider ourselves fortunate to offer films of the caliber and diversity that we have programmed for this year’s Festival,” said Fenigstein. Who also noted, “The first leg of the festival in Chicago, which kicked-off May 8th, has proven to be a great success by having strong ticket sales and numerous sold out screenings opening weekend. We really have something for everyone – drama, comedy, family films, documentaries. It’s exciting to know that we’ll be offering our audience the opportunity to engage films, filmmakers and film genres that they may never otherwise have had the opportunity to experience.”
The Opening Night films, “All I’ve Got” and “Provence United” will screen at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. All other films at the Festival will screen at Laemmle’s Fairfax Theatre, 7907 Beverly Boulevard, at the corner of Fairfax and Beverly, and Laemmle’s Town Center 5, 17200 Ventura Boulevard in Encino.
