TALLGRASS ROOTED IN WICHITA

By Film Threat Staff | March 6, 2003

The Wichita Association for the Motion Picture Arts is organizing the Tallgrass Film Festival, October 2-5, in Wichita, Kansas.
“We’re excited to have a name that recognizes our prairie roots and Midwestern location,” said WAMPA founder Timothy Gruver. “We hope that Tallgrass will become synonymous with the film festival and that in years to come, people will refer to ‘Tallgrass in Wichita’ as a destination to see quality films and for filmmakers to screen them.”
The WAMPA will be holding its first fund raiser, a public screening of “Y Tu Mama Tambien” in Dodge City, Kan. on March 19th at the Cinema Circle Twin Theaters.
“Y Tu Mama Tambien,” said Gruver, “which was chosen for its high quality as well as its international appeal, will be a preview as to the type of programming we will present at the festival.”
