TAHOE INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL OPENS

By Film Threat Staff | March 27, 2001

The Tahoe International Film Festival is looking forward to another successful year and would like to invite filmmakers from around the world to join them for their fifth annual event. The Tahoe International Film Festival has opened the “Call For Entries” and will accept submissions through June 29, 2001. ^ The Tahoe International Film Festival is an intimate celebration of cinema, set in one of the most beautiful places on earth. TIFF has established an important goal for 2001 — to define a unique, signature event that will firmly establish Tahoe International Film Festival as a festival of the highest esteem. Although this distinction is based on the character and milieu of the festival, as well as on the excellent caliber of the films chosen, the organizers of TIFF have expressed that at the heart of their tribute is the focused intent of the filmmaker. “Films will always be chosen for their high technical merit and clear story voice,” says Elizabeth Rogers, the festival director. “Yet, we are choosing to honor and nurture those innovative filmmakers who demonstrate a deep understanding of the power of media to effect beneficial change and are actively using this to make a difference.” ^ The Tahoe International Film Festival has shifted from its traditional spring dates to the heart of the autumn months. The six-day North Lake Tahoe event will begin Thursday, September 27th and run through Tuesday, October 2nd, 2001. Visit the TIFF website.
