SURF CITY FILM FESTIVAL ARRIVES

By Film Threat Staff | September 20, 2001

The organizers of the 1st Annual Surf City International Film Festival are very excited to bring independent cinema to the city of Huntington Beach, California for the first time in the city’s history. 100 films from around the world will be showcased over a 6-day span, with live entertainment and after party events every night of the festival. The Surf City International Film Festival (SCIFF) will be held annually in the month of July, beginning in 2002. The goal of SCIFF is to be the leading organization in Orange County dedicated to the freedom of expression through the art of independent filmmaking, by encouraging emerging artists, and by providing a consistent, reputable venue for work the public moviegoers may not otherwise see. Huntington Beach is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Major motion pictures and network television shows have used the city for their shooting location. It’s only fitting that a film festival be held in this beautiful locale.
This festival plans to be very supportive of independent filmmakers. Whether the film is a strong effort from a first timer or a recognized, established filmmaker — if talent is presented, they will always have a place at the Surf City International Film Festival.
