This May, Sundance Channel will showcase Japan’s new wave of horror cinema during the Channel’s May FilmFest, “Modern Japanese Horror.” The special five-film series begins on Saturday, May 25th, 2002, with a different title set to air every night at midnight through Wednesday, May 29th.
The directors and films sharing the spotlight are Takashi Miike’s Audition (Odishon); Kiyoshi Kurosawa’s Cure (Kyua); Joji Iida’s Another Heaven; Higuchinsky’s Spiral (Uzumaki) and Hideo Nakata’s Ghost Actress, aka Don’t Look Up (Joyurei).
“Modern Japanese Horror” is a rare opportunity to sample a new breed of horror film — all five of the titles are U.S. television premieres.
For updates and the full schedule for the “Modern Japanese Horror” series, as well as synopses of the included films, stop by the Sundance Channel site beginning in May.
