The indie film world released a collected sigh of “bummed” when actress and director Adrienne Shelly was found dead in her New York office. What at first appeared to be a suicide was soon discovered to be a murder. She had just finished a feature film called “Waitress” in which she starred alongside Cheryl Hines and Keri Russel, but now she’d never get to see the film out in the world.
Yet we’re sure Shelly would have been thrilled to see her film at Sundance which is just where it’s premiering. The NY Times talks to the films producers who have had the bittersweet task of getting Shelly’s vision to the masses.
