SUMMER OF STINK 2003

By Admin | September 2, 2003

15. THE LIZZIE MCGUIRE MOVIE
It’s a Disney Channel show blown up to feature length. Need we say more?

14. BRUCE ALMIGHTY
Long before you buy your ticket to the new Jim Carrey film, you’ve already been doomed to disappointment.

13. ALEX & EMMA
Everything in this film is predictable. The story-within-a-story of the novel Alex is writing is likewise painfully predictable. Even the semi-surprise ending is predictable – not necessarily because it is a plot device that has been used in practically every sitcom from “Three’s Company” to “Step by Step,” but because it is just telegraphed throughout the entire film. Predictability isn’t necessarily bad in a romantic comedy, but even within this genre there should be some attempt to do something – anything – different.

12. FREAKY FRIDAY
After the original “Freaky Friday,” “Like Father, Like Son” and “Vice Versa,” we’re done with the whole identity swapping bit.

11. DADDY DAY CARE
Eddie Murphy continues to tarnish his name with this “Mr. Mom” rehash before completely flushing himself down the toilet with “The Haunted Mansion.” There needs to be an intervention…NOW!
It just gets stinkier in part three of SUMMER OF STINK 2003>>>
