STEVE MARTIN TO HOST ACADEMY AWARDS

Steve Martin has been a part of the grand cinematic tradition known to all as the Academy Awards on many occassions. He presented awards for six shows, introduced a Best Picture clip in 1997, and even performed in a sketch at 1995’s gala event. But has he ever won a glorious Oscar of his very own, or even been nominated? Well, no. But, as Martin himself says, “If you can’t win ’em, join ’em.”
Martin has been selected as the official host for the 73rd Academy Awards, which will be televised live on ABC on [ March 25th, 2001 ] . The comedian/actor/writer/icon is currently enjoying the success of his first novella, “Shopgirl,” which is riding high on the New York Times and Los Angeles Times Best Seller lists. He’s also gearing up for the release of his latest film, “Novocaine”.
