SPRINGTIME FOR MUSSOLINI?

Mel Brooks told a funny story to the press this week upon the release of the disappointing updated version of “The Producers” on DVD. Apparently when he first pitched the idea of “The Producers,” Universal Pictures and Lew Wasserman loved the idea…but wanted one small change. They felt a movie featuring a play about Hitler would be a bad move so they wanted to change the play in the movie to “Springtime for Mussolini.” Hmmm…who smells sequel?
