The excellent documentary Rivers and Tides: Andy Goldsworthy Working with Time, is coming to DVD on September 28th from Blackchair DVD.
In the timeless tradition of “Winged Migration” and “Koyaanisqatsi,” the theatrical phenomenon RIVERS AND TIDES depicts the magical relationship between art and nature while painting a visually intoxicating portrait of famed artist Andy Goldsworthy. Gorgeously shot and masterfully edited, the film follows the bohemian free spirit Goldsworthy all over the world as he demonstrates and opens up about his unique creative process. From his long-winding rock walls and icicle sculptures to his interlocking leaf chains and multicolored pools of flowers, Goldsworthy’s painstakingly intricate masterpieces are made entirely of materials found in Mother Nature – who threatens and often succeeds in destroying his art, sometimes before it is even finished.
Also coming to DVD from Blackchair is “Bush Family Fortunes” and “Uncovered: The Whole Truth About the Iraq War”.
“Bush Family Fortunes” follows the award-winning reporter-sleuth Greg Palast on the trail of the Bush family, from Florida election finagling, to the Saudi connection, to the Bush team’s spiking the FBI investigation of the bin Laden family and the secret State Department plans for post-war Iraq. Based on Greg Palast’s hard-hitting investigative reports for the BBC and the UK’s Guardian and Observer newspapers, and his international bestselling book The Best Democracy Money Can Buy.
“Uncovered” takes its audience behind the walls of government, as CIA, Pentagon and foreign service experts speak out, many for the first time, detailing the lies, misstatements and exaggerations that served as the reasons to fight a “preemptive” war that wasn’t necessary. This documentary offers an in-depth look at the unsettling distortion of intelligence and the “spin and hype” presented to the American people, the Congress and the press. Fighting wars to bring about regime change is in breach of international law. Yet, throughout the fall of 2002, and into the weeks preceding the war in Iraq, the Bush administration systematically distorted intelligence evidence and misled the public in order to turn opinion favor of “regime change” in Iraq.
