REELFAST 48 HOUR FILM FESTIVAL SCREENINGS

By Film Threat Staff | August 19, 2002

In Vancouver last weekend, about 200 teams of filmmakers had 48 hours to shoot and edit a ten minute short. Before shooting, each team was given an “inspiration packet” which included:
A Sound Bite – Songs from Humpback Whales, Alvin & The Chipmunks, elevator music on a CD or tape. ^ A Photograph ^ A Location Idea – (P.N.E. Puddle, Wally Burgers, The Turf Hotel in Surrey) ^ A Surprise – (A Bottle of tequila, Cowboy Hat, Rubber Gloves, Someone’s Retainer) ^ A Donation to Craft Services – (Food donation, Watermelon, Drink boxes, A Can of Beans)
Now that the messes, or perhaps pieces of film heaven, have been made, they’ll be shown at the Anza Club (3 West 8th Ave.) on Tuesday, August 20th, and Wednesday, August 21st, 2002. A panel of judges will select the top 10 films for the Gala Screening at the Commodore Ballroom (868 Granville St.) on Saturday, August 24th, 2002.
The panel of judges will award prizes for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Editor and Best Use of the Inspiration Package. But the most coveted of all is the Audience Choice Award, decided by ballot at the Gala itself.
