The story of The Jibcutters isn’t really a story too often told in the music world. They were the first and last great alt-bluegrass band and, upon the discovery of cocaine, a band on the brink of a downfall. This film chronicles The Jibcutters binging out on coke in a small bathroom as Marty attempts to write another bluegrass classic and Tobias sits in a bathtub with enough powder to kill all of the Czech Republic. Pardon My Downfall is as odd as it is brilliant, funny as it is horrifying, and touching as it is tragic. In another words, it has everything you’ve come to expect in a Zellner Bros. film, and more.
