OUTER LIMITS FEST GOES GLOBAL

By Film Threat Staff | October 24, 2000

The Second Annual Outer Limits Film and Video Series is slated for a New York run in the Spring of 2001, and they’re looking for short videos and films from now until their deadline on [ December 22nd, 2000 ] . The Festival bills itself as a mix of short, experimental, documentary, animation and independent narrative film and video, with a focus on work from “the far geographic and cultural reaches.”
As far as the Festival’s “far reaches” agenda, Outer Limits is particularly interested in submissions with global themes, such as tourism and tourists, individualism and eccentrics, and time and distance. If it all sounds a bit too esoteric and philosophical for you, Outer Limits breaks it down by explaining their preference for the time theme, for example, as a film that could demonstrate what can be accomplished “in five minutes”. The Fest plans to screen an entire mini-series of shorts that address this theme, so relevant entries are strongly encouraged. Big hint: think about submitting with an Outer Limits theme in mind, though the Festival accepts films with any subject matter.
