OH MY GOD

By Eric Campos | January 20, 2005

I love films that review themselves in the title. “Oh My God!” is right. But then on the other hand, this is one of those shorts where the less you know about it, the more kick it has the first time you see it. I say “the first time” because you’ll want to see this one more than once just to be able to comprehend what you’ve just witnessed.

“Oh My God!”

So, not wanting to remove that kick from anyone’s first time viewing experience, just know that this film depicts a man’s worst case scenario as he comes home one day to find his family not exactly well. And that scenario just gets worse and worse as this man screams over and over again – “Oh My God! How did this happen?” It makes your shittiest day look like a night at Bingo, but this film isn’t here to make us feel better about ourselves. No. In the end, it’s all about the well-being of innocent retarded Texans. Somebody has to look out for those guys and filmmaker John Bryant is on point.

I’ve already said too much, but I had to say something. I do hope, however, that your curiosity is piqued so that you’ll keep your eyes open for this one playing at a festival near you. As of this writing, “Oh My God” just recently played the Palm Springs shorts fest, so it’s out there. Don’t miss it!
