New for NXNW 2000 is a Digital Video Shorts Festival and Competition. A core philosophy of NXNW is that local control results in national impact–and that understanding business is crucial for developing your art. The NXNW Digital Video Shorts Festival will reinforce these philosophies while serving the next generation of guerrilla filmmakers driven by the do-it-yourself accessibility of new media. Applications for the Digital Video Shorts Festival can also be obtained at http://www.nxnw.com
The NXNW Music and New Media Conference also features three days of panel sessions on how new media technology is impacting the music industry, as well as discussions of more traditional aspects of this business (such as A&R, touring and publicity). Another component of NXNW is the three-day Trade Show, where the region’s top music and new media companies will be displaying their wares. All NXNW daytime events take place at the Embassy Suites, located at 329 SW Pine in downtown Portland. ^ NXNW is co-presented by Willamette Week and by South by Southwest. For more information on NXNW, see http://www.nxnw.com or e-mail nxnw@nxnw.com.
