The Nodance Film & Multimedia Festival celebrated their 4th year and did it in style by renting four rooms (three screening venues and their headquarters) at the Main Street Mall. Nodance expanded their screenings and put on a show lasting seven days this year. Films played to packed crowds as attendees were not charged for tickets. This simply was “the year of Nodance” as the festival truly established itself as the premiere festival in Park City showing exciting new digital work. The line up of films this year was the best it has ever been and the unpretentious atmosphere led to many thoughtful discussions about the future of digital filmmaking. ^ Aside from daily screenings, each night ended in a giant party without the usual guest list. Everyone was welcome and the nightly parties became the party place of choice in 2001 for Park City’s Main Street madness. Parties generally had a theme and at one celebrating the film “Pornstar: The Legend of Ron Jeremy” actual porn stars began to strip. Utah laws prohibit this kind of nudity in public and the partiers (strippers?) were quickly asked to put their clothes back on to the dismay of the crowd of onlookers. ^ Here’s Film Threat’s Nodance 2001 Film Festival review wrap up…
