NO BULLSHIT AT THE WESTCLIFFE DIGITAL FILM FESTIVAL

By Film Threat Staff | August 25, 2004

No sponsors, no gift bags, no 4-star hotels. Instead, the Westcliffe Digital Film Festival in Colorado focuses all its energy on showcasing the new wave of defiantly independent filmmakers’ self-financed DV feature films & shorts. And most importantly, 100% of all profits from the festival are given back to the participating filmmakers in the form of grants toward their next film. Gotta love that attitude.
This first annual festival will be held on Friday-Sunday, August 27-29, 2004.
“There’re very few TRUE independent films anymore at Sundance and other major film festivals,” said Kenneth Wajda, festival director. “This is about breaking out from the festival pack, to getting back to putting the films first, getting inspired by hobnobbing with other indie filmmakers and cutting out all the bullshit. There will be no red carpets. All profits from the festival go to the filmmakers, period.”
