NEVER DATE AN ACTRESS

By Chris Gore | March 18, 2002

The title says it all. If you live in Los Angeles, you already know to live by the words, “Never date an actress.” Filmmaker David Bær knows these words all too well as he admits to having broken this rule more than once. His latest psycho/actress/girlfriend was the inspiration for this digital short. Real life is often even more bizarre and entertaining than scripted dialog and Bær uses his ex-girlfriend’s real quirks and words as the basis for the film’s story. In a series of vignettes, we observe this nutcase girlfriend/actress inch ever closer to the deep end as she becomes obsessed with animal cruelty, leather and fur resulting in a freakish fit.
In a true bit of inspiration, we’re treated to a series of threatening phone messages from his ex-actress/girlfriend over the film’s final credits in which she promises legal action if he moves forward with this idea of making a short film about their relationship. Well, he made it, so bring on the lawsuit! The truth hurts, but sometimes it’s also funny as hell.
