The American Cinematheque at the Egyptian Theatre and Outfest collaborate to present gay and lesbian programming on Wednesdays at the Egyptian in Los Angeles. Outfest Wednesdays is the only gay and lesbian-themed weekly screening series in the country. Founded in 1999, the programming features favorites from past festivals, Hollywood revivals, filmmaker retrospectives and sneak preview and word of mouth screenings of upcoming releases.

On January 4th is CALL ME MALCOLM (2004, 90 min.). Director Joseph Parlagreco documents the story of a transgender male seminary student.

On January 11th is MR. LEATHER (2005, 70 min.), a documentary following nine contestants in their hope to gain the Mr. L.A. Leather title.

On January 18th is SWOON (1992, Fine Line, 90 min.), director Tom Kalin’s account of the 1924 Leopold and Loeb murder case, in which two wealthy Jewish lovers went on a crime spree and senselessly killed a Chicago schoolboy. A discussion will follow with actor Craig Chester.

On January 25th is a Sneak Preview of IMAGINE ME AND YOU (2005, Fox Searchlight, 93 min.), a romantic comedy about a woman who falls in love with her female florist before her wedding.
