MONEY THE HARD WAY

By Pete Vonder Haar | June 8, 2007

2007 deadCENTER DOCUMENTARY SHORT – The biggest complaint I can make about Bradley Beesley’s “Money the Hard Way” is that it isn’t long enough. Clocking in at a mere ten minutes, this look at The Oklahoma State Prison Rodeo, the only “behind the walls” rodeo of its kind, barely has time to scratch the surface. Beesley gives us a brief history (the rodeo started in 1940) and introduces us to a handful of men and women (only recently allowed to participate) who view their chance to compete as one of their only ways to escape the monotony of prison life. And then, before you know it, it’s done, leaving you wanting to learn much much more about this uniquely American curiosity.
