MINDFIRE LAUNCHES CFQ FILMS Image

Mark A. Altman, Chief Executive Officer of Mindfire Entertainment, has announced today the launch of its CFQ Films division along with the beginning of production on “ALL SOULS DAY: DIA DE LOS MUERTOS” this fall; the first in a slate of moderately budgeted genre films from the company’s CFQ Films label, a spin-off of its magazine brands Cinefantastique and Femme Fatales, which the company acquired in 2002. “All Souls Day” is being financed and produced by New Arc Entertainment and distributed in all media worldwide by IDT Entertainment Sales.
The film, directed by Jeremy Kasten (The Attic Expedition), stars Marissa Ramirez (General Hospital, Miracles), Laura Elena Harring (Mullholland Drive), Danny Trejo (Once Upon A Time In Mexico), David Keith (Daredevil), Travis Wester (Euro-Trip), Ellie Cornell (Halloween IV) and Jeffrey Combs (Re-Animator), is a ghost story set against the backdrop of the Mexican Day of the Dead in which the dead rise to menace the living on All Souls Day and can best be described as “The Ring” meets “Night of the Living Dead.” The film is produced by Altman and Mindfire chairman Mark Gottwald and wraps production this week.
Says Altman, “CFQ Films allows us to exploit the synergy between film productions and our magazines, which are leaders in their respective genres. Each film will receive in-depth coverage and promotion in the pages of CFQ and Femme Fatales chronicling production from inception through release and will benefit from a multi-faceted marketing strategy including promotion and coverage on the web (through cfq.com and femmefatales.com) as well as at genre conventions, trade shows and targeted direct marketing to genre enthusiasts throughout the world.”
“All Souls Day” is the first in a slate of smart horror and sci-fi films from CFQ Films which is also developing a Femme Fatales branded series for cable television and DVD described by Altman as “Twilight Zone meets Red Shoe Diaries.”
