MICROCINEMA ENJOYS HOUSTON’S GREAT OUTDOORS

By Film Threat Staff | November 24, 2003

Microcinema International, partnered with the Downtown Entertainment District Alliance will present weekly
outdoor short film screenings, highlighting the work of Texas and international artists, every Friday and Saturday evening beginning November 21.
“We have been screening compelling international short films and videos for over 8 years in alternative venues from Amarillo to Antarctica, and Portugal to Palestine,” says Microcinema International Founder and Houstonian Patrick Kwiatkowski, “but the Main Street Microcinema is by far the largest “screen” upon which the art has been presented.”
The weekly exhibition, organized by Microcinema
International founder and curator, Patrick Kwiatkowski is part of the Entertainment District Alliance’s “Main Event” in which Main Street is turned into a pedestrian zone for Friday and Saturday evenings. The screenings will feature
artistic film and video from the extensive Microcinema Collection, which spans over eight years, and also will include guest programming by local curators and media artists. The works are being technically displayed by Houston-based Laser Technetics who also is projecting a laser light show as part of the event.
The Main Street Microcinema is being presented on the Binz Building near the corner of Main Street and Prairie in downtown Houston, Texas. Exhibitions will occur on Friday and Saturday evenings from Dusk – 2am beginning Friday, November 21st and extending through the winter. The
event is FREE and open to the General Public. Featured artists will be announced on a weekly basis.
