The road to Hollywood can indeed be treacherous. Especially for an idealistic 21-year-old girl from Phoenix, Arizona with the princely sum of two-hundred dollars in her purse, and a ton of star-studded dreams in her head. But instead of ending up at Phil Spector’s mansion at gunpoint or breaking into Brad Pitt’s pad to sniff his jockey shorts (more on that later), shortly after arriving Tanya Dempsey landed herself the lead gig in an indie horror flick, and the lovely actress has never looked back.
Dempsey, now 28, has gone on to make a name for herself as a horror femme fatale in some features as “Demon’s Kiss,” “The Coven,” and the fabulously-titled Hell Asylum. But, perhaps understandably, the stunning starlet has begun to hanker for meatier roles and a chance to write her own ticket for a first-class seat on the Tinseltown Express.
One of the things she’s done is collaborate on a vampire-themed screenplay with Writer/Director Annabel Schofield which the duo is currently working on getting made. And her latest star vehicle, another horror film called “Guardian of the Realm.” So, in a town littered with wannabes and should’ve-beens, Dempsey is doing pretty darn well.
