Last Call: Submit Your Film to the Blood & Popcorn Film Festival Today!

By Film Threat Staff | November 19, 2024

Attention horror filmmakers: your time is almost up! Wednesday, November 20, 2024, is the final day to submit your blood-soaked masterpiece to the Blood & Popcorn Film Festival, the Bay Area’s raddest celebration of indie horror. Set to open December 10, 2024, this micro-horror fest is your ticket to showcasing your nightmares on the big screen alongside fellow filmmakers who live for spine-chilling scares and gory delights.

From local Bay Area talent to the most twisted international visions, Blood & Popcorn is all about curating a stellar lineup of terrifying shorts and features. Whether you’ve got a slasher short, a haunting sci-fi thriller, or even a creepy animated web series, this festival wants it all—as long as it screams horror.

Here’s the deal: your film needs to be from 2017 or later, in HD MP4 or MOV format, and fully locked down with all the rights (yes, even the music). They’re handing out awards for Best Kill, Best Killer, Best Gore, Best Scare, and even Best Final Girl, so this could be your moment to shine if you’ve got a killer sequence. Oh, and did we mention the Best Folklore award? Get creative and go for the jugular.

Why Submit?

Aside from the glory of seeing your film on the big screen at Oakland’s community-centric New Parkway Theater, there’s free beer and pizza for selected filmmakers. Yes, you heard that right. Beer. Pizza. Horror. Plus, you get to rub elbows with industry pros and festival fans during Q&As, raffles, and all the gnarly special events.

Horror Royalty in Attendance

Past guests have included Jason Ragosta, whose shorts Boy in the Dark and ZTV: Sympathy for the Devil brought chills, and Margaret Caragan, an FX wizard behind Sorry to Bother You and Fruitvale Station. Blood & Popcorn even hosted the Oakland premiere of Where the Devil Roams, where Toby Poser snagged the Best Killer award.

The Clock is Ticking!

This is it—the final day to submit your film. Don’t let your horror dreams die on the cutting room floor. And here’s a little bonus: Use code EvilPop50 at checkout for 50% off your submission fee when you submit at the Blood & Popcorn Film Freeway form.

Join the blood-soaked ranks of independent horror legends. Get your film into Blood & Popcorn Film Festival before midnight!
