The Los Angeles Film Festival, a program of IFP/West, announced that the World Premiere of Edward Burns’ “Sidewalks of New York” will be the Opening Night Premiere on April 20, 2001 at the Directors Guild of America. The festival will run April 20 Â 28, 2001 at the DGA, Laemmle Sunset 5, Harmony Gold, and the LA Film School.
Dawn Hudson, Executive Director, IFP/West said, “‘Sidewalks’ is sexy and fun, and it’s a terrific opening film for the festival. It’s especially gratifying to see the winner of the 1996 Spirit Award for Best First Feature returning to IFP/West with a winning premiere.”
Richard Raddon, Festival Director, commented on the film, “Edward Burns has truly captured the heart and soul of the modern romantic comedy. We’re elated to usher in the dawn of a new festival by premiering such a humorous and spirited film.”
The film marks Edwards Burns’ fourth directorial feature and stars a stellar cast of actors including Burns, Heather Graham, Stanley Tucci, David Krumholtz, Brittany Murphy, Rosario Dawson, and Dennis Farina. “Sidewalks of New York” is a romantic adventure about finding the perfect match in a city of 8 million people. The film is a comedic exploration of sex, love, and other subjects people don’t like talking about. Like his debut feature “The Brothers McMullen,” Burns wrote, directed, produced, and stars in the film. The premiere will be attended by Edward Burns, Rosario Dawson, Brittany Murphy, David Krumholtz, and Dennis Farina.
The festival is also featuring world premieres, dramatic films, documentaries, music video screenings, high school shorts, seminars and digital presentations. Tickets are on sale now through the official LAFF web site or call 800-965-4827.
