L.A. RIOTS DOC MARKS THE DATE

“Univers’l” is a documentary written and directed by Academy Award-nominated filmmaker Anna Nicholas. The film centers around a Korean-owned strip mall in South Central Los Angeles during the city’s notorious riots in the spring of 1992. On the eve of the riots’ 10th anniversary, “Univers’l” will screen in Santa Barbara on Sunday, April 28th. The screening time is 7PM at the Munger Theatre. Admission is $7, and the proceeds will go to multicultural art scholarships at Ridley-Tree.
The film will also air on KCET(PBS-LA) on May 25th, 2002 at 10:25PM as a part of Los Angeles’ recognition of the 10 years that have passed since the city was taken over by flames and fury.
